Gorshok has always dreamt to become an actor – since the early times. The theme of theater is seen throughout the whole contents of Korol i Shut: masks, dolls, marionettes, reflections, prompters, the concept of theatrical demon or the clown’s shadow... Gorshok the leader, inspired of an English legend about a barber Sweeney Todd, wrote the whole and entirely original musical material for a play he wished to put on stage, where he took the main role - of Sweeney Todd. It was one of his dreams and it became true.

 

The musicians of Korol i Shut cheerfully joined the play, and the band released two albums with their unique material: TODD Act 1 “Feast of Blood” and TODD Act 2 “At the Edge”. Since its premiere, the play was held at a full house, and at the end of its first season TODD topped the list of the best musical shows of Moscow, according to the “Affiche” magazine.

 

Mikhail Gorsheniov, being the driving force of the project and the performer of the main role, passed away in July 2013. In August 2013, his friends Korol i Shut and the company Theatrical Business made a decision - to preserve the theatrical performance of TODD and keep it up and running. Ecstatic audience applauds, and the play has been supported by the voice of Gorshok, in addition to the lyrics and music throughout the performance. He is here, with us, and we are always with him - in his wonderful, bright world.
