"Boots of a Dead Man" [1996]
Song: Knyazev (text), Gorsheniov (music, lead vocal)
A tired woodcutter trudged through the woods. Suddenly, his hair stood on end: a dead man lied in the untamed grass. In new boots - almost unworn.
“Oh, I'll take them for myself. How will they be on me?” And he came, cheerful, home - “Quickly, my sister, open the door! Look what I have on my feet! Look in what boots I am!”
The brother is glad - the sister is worried. Night is falling - she is still praying: “I cannot sleep, because of your new possession... Vainly, brother, you took off the boots from the dead cold feet!”
And a voice came through the window “Open the door for me, good man! I came to get back what you dare to take from me this morning!”
The man grabbed an ax and promptly ran into the yard. The woodcutter ran all around: he met no one, and, suddenly - suddenly he saw his sister on the floor...
In the boots!..
Possible interpretation: Never take what is not yours. Even when the one, from whom you take it from, does not seem to need it. Mind your own way. When you are given hints, see it.
