"A Father and Masks" [1996]

One young father, in a good early morning, took his children to the park for a walk. They saw a sad seller in a back alley, who had masks on sale.

- Buy masks for us, father! - the children begged, - This is what we have always dreamed of! -

The father reached into his pocket, because he couldn’t refuse the kids. - Choose masks for yourself, my friends! Alex is now a boar; and you, Dmitri, is a ghoul. Sasha, you're like a witch in your red dress! -

Around the father danced his happy children: - Oh, dad, you are the best in the world for us! -

The father was about to pay for these masks, but the seller disappeared suddenly. Instantly, the voices of the little ones changed: they began to rush at their papa, bite his in his neck and wag him in the mud.

Their hands turned into bestial paws. The father fell, bleeding with blood, and the ghoul bit him, slightly hiccuping. The boar tore already the lifeless body, and the red-haired witch flew over the corpse.

- Buy masks for us, father! - the children begged!...

Possible interpretation: Young people are usually susceptible, kind and naive, so adults shall be careful of what they get for the young, how they "feed" them and what they teach them - to take care and protect them from the wrong.

"It is important that people respect you. Do not play with them. I die on stage, just as they do. We do everything all together," – said once Mikhail Gorsheniov, 2002. If there is an option to choose between the good and the bad, he takes the latter. He performs it so naturally that he succeeds to light it up throughout its depth, so that the young people realize what the conclusions could be, without going through the situation themselves. One rainy night, his huge insightful heart stopped... since then he lives in us. This is because "we do everything all together!"
